Flowers are a Man’s Best Friend

Look, dogs are great, and they are a great gift for your girlfriend, if they love dogs. But, it’s kind of a one shot gift that you give to your girlfriend when you not living with her, so you don’t have to walk it in the dead of winter. That’s why flowers are so great, I got into a “misunderstanding” with my girlfriend, and didn’t really know what to do. I bought some flowers and left them on our kitchen counter. Took off for a couple of hours, she came home from work, saw the flowers and things were back to normal. This is why it is so great that women love flowers, and that’s why they are a man’s best friend.

I learned about flowers from my father when I was just a kid. Mothers day was around the corner and he asked me what I was going to get my mother. I said that I would make her something in school. He told me that was lame, and it would only take me so far in life. He drove me over to the local florist, and told me to pick out some Mothers day flowers, which I did. He said that no matter what kind of women and girls entered my life, buy them flowers and more times than not, I’ll be good to go. He was right.

Mom’s Day

My town growing up had a Dutch festival every spring that included: parades, food and decorations throughout the community. It lasted from a Thursday to Saturday ever year, and that next Sunday was always Mother’s Day. That Saturday night, my friends and I were constantly reminded to get something for our mother, and during the last parade before we went home, there were women carrying flowers. You had to kiss the woman on the cheek to receive the flower, so we would all line up, give this women a kiss, and receive your present for our mothers. We took it home and have to them the next day, and it seemed to work like a charm.

Now that we are older, the flower present still seems to work, but this time we do better then one, single flower. Now I still get my mom Mother’s Day Flowers every year, but I don’t get her just, I get her a dozen. Obviously, Mother’s Day Flowers aren’t enough for all mother’s do, but it is a start, and it is a gift that they love a lot.

What a Way to Celebrate

My grandparents recently celebrated their wedding anniversary, and I wanted to do something special for them. They have been terrific to me and my brother over the years; doing all the quintessential grandparent activities. They went to all of our games, and grandma cooked all the cookies and brownies we could stomach. They live in the Midwest and wanted to send them somewhere warm; where they could get away from the cold and ice that is state of Iowa in the middle of February. I did a little research and I found a company called YMT Vacations. YMT Vacations offered a full service and discounted cruise, which is exactly what I was looking for. The only problem was deciding where to send them for a nice and relaxing vacation? YMT Vacations offered cruises anywhere from Europe to Hawaii. I wanted my grandparents to go where they wanted, and didn’t want to presume anything. I asked them if they could go anywhere in the world, where would they want to go? They said Europe, so I booked them on a trip to Alaska, and told them to have a nice time. That’s a joke…I sent them to Europe, and they had a great time.

A Flower for Every Occasion

Flowers are a fantastic gift for just about any occasion; they have also been known to get guys out of a few sticky situations. They’re great because they look nice and smell wonderful, at the same time.

Flowers have the ability to say and mean a million different things. They can be used for special events or celebrations, such as: weddings, anniversaries, graduations, and much, much more. They can also have more personal meanings. Flowers have a way of saying, “I love you,” or “I’m sorry,” that no other gift has the ability to do. As 2009 unfolds and events or occasions come up, remember that a flower is worth a thousand words and a dozen of them are worth…a lot more!!!

Valentine’s Day, Right Around the Corner

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and it is one of the best times of the year to have someone special in your life. Part of the fun of this day are the presents…generally each person gets their better half a nice and lavish gift. Generally, guys go with the valentines flowers, it’s the gift you can’t go wrong with; because most girls love flowers and they may get old, but never go out of style.

I’m always interested in what the girls in my life have gotten me. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the easiest person to shop for and I am always surprised by the valentine’s gifts gift I have received. It’s not that I ever dislike my valentines gifts, it’s just that I never have an answer when they ask me what I want. I just want us to go out, have a good time and any problems we have to be put off until tomorrow. Valentine’s is a special day to spend with the person you love and it’s always nice to get them something that will last forever.

Valentine’s Day…Already?

I have just been getting over the Christmas holidays and the pressure that came along with getting presents for my girlfriend and just as that anxiety seems to be going away… BOOM!! Here comes Valentine’s Day.

So I am trying to figure out what to do. I am thinking about going with the valentines day roses. I do try and get her roses just because and not only for special occasions; so I’m not sure how she’ll react to roses for valentines day. Do I get her a gift with just roses? Maybe I should send flowers for valentines to her work and then give her a gift valentines night? Anybody out there have any ideas?

Worth My Weight in Gold

Now that the financial world is gone into the proverbial toilet, I find myself wondering what is a good investment? I do not have the faintest idea and this troubling me greatly. What am I supposed to do with my money? I am having a hard time trusting anyone on Wall Street after the whole Bear Stearns collapse and the Bernie Mandoff scandal. I still cannot believe that guy is not in jail. This is a slap in the face to the entire judicial system.

I have been doing some research online and have found Andrew Wilshire. Andrew Wilshire is the CEO of Blue Goose News and a successful entrepreneur and business executive. He believes that investors should acquire gold, silver, and other precious medals to cover their assets.

I thought that was excellent advice and I am going to continue checking out Andrew Wilshire’s blog.

No Job, No Insurance

My girlfriend recently got let go from her job and with that she lost her insurance. So what happens if she gets sick or if something happens to her? I don’t know and she doesn’t know either. It is absolutely insane that our health is related to our job performance in life. What happens when we get sick and can no longer do our job? We get fired and then we lose our insurance. It is a bitter, disgusting cycle.

The only thing she can do is find a reasonable insurance company that can take care of her needs. She did find one, the United American Insurance Company, it has everything you would want in an insurance company. United American Insurance Company has all the important coverages and will help you keep your peace of mind; that is if something happens you won’t end up in the poor house. United American Insurance Company will make sure of that.

Taxiing into a New Era

It’s about time taxi cabs have found there way into the 21st century, especially here in New York City. They are now starting to accept credit cards thanks to my man, Amos Tamam. Amos Tamam invented the credit card machine for taxi cabs. Now, not all taxi cabs accept credit cards and don’t get me started on that. I don’t know why this is the case; have one, then have all, but the trend doesn’t seem to be catching on.

When I am coming home from the bar at 4:00 am; I don’t want to have to find an ATM and pay the extra fee just to get the cash to pay for the cab. I want this transition home to be as easy as possible and I just want them to be able to take my debit/credit card in every cab. It used to be that using my card was never a possibility, but because of Amos Tamam, taxi’s using a credit card is happening and hopefully soon it will spread like wild fire.

I Say Shasta, You Say Pool

I love swimming and I always wanted to have a pool growing up, but my house during my formative years didn’t have the logistics in the backyard to support a pool. I am now looking to buy a house and I want to fulfill a life long dream of having my own pool. I have been shopping around for pool companies and finally found one that I have taken a liking to. Shasta Pools is a premier pool company and has everything I am looking for in a pool company.

I don’t want to have the standard kind of pool; I want the Playboy mansion type of pool with the Grotto and everything. Shasta Pools has those types of pools and I want one. I want to sit by my pool with a bunch of friends all around, having a great time, and sipping a cold alcoholic drink while the sun shines down on me. I know it is still winter, but I am so excited, I am going to call Shasta Pools right now.
